Faith is the multiplier…

I had an interesting thought come to me during my morning workout.

For context, I’ve been on somewhat of a spiritual search for quite some time in my life – trying to view the world through the different lenses offered by theology.

When I’m training I like to think of the word build as I’m pushing through reps. Especially when things get tough, the word build echoes in my head with each strain of the bar, the weight or the movment of whatever I’m working on.

The interesting notion that came to me today as I was whispering build to myself was that faith is the multiplier.

Faith in what is the question.

The story in the Bible came to mind of Jesus feeding the many with five loaves and two fish. Not so much for the physical miracle of what transpired, but for the idea that what was brought to him in earnest was multiplied to feed the many.

There are so many moments in life where we think: I don’t have enough, or what I have isn’t good enough.

What I liked about this line of thought was that as long as we choose our attitude — that little bit of spirit can feed the many.

Faith is the multiplier.

Faith in what is probably the next appropriate question. Although I can’t definitively tell anyone that a “God” exists (that’s the actual premise of faith), all I know is that from a mindset perspective, surrendering and giving my best has served me well over the past few years.

If anything, in the worst case scenario, surrendering the little that I have — but offering the best of what I can give — gives me peace of mind. I can have faith that things will work out as they should.

Too often I fall into the trap of trying to control the little world I operate in. This moment of reflection reminded me that maybe I don’t need to control my little sphere as much as I think I do.

Maybe all I need to do is offer my best and trust that what I give can be multiplied.

Hopefully this little bit of spirit feeds you as well.
